Door staff in Lincoln

For Lincoln venues we can provide SIA-licensed door staff at £18 an hour plus VAT, with a 6-hour minimum. Licensing is run by the City of Lincoln Council under its 2024 to 2029 policy, which has no published cumulative impact area. Plan around term time at two universities, match days at the ProAmpac Stadium and big weekends in the historic quarter.

Who licenses venues in Lincoln?

The City of Lincoln Council. Its Statement of Licensing Policy for 2024 to 2029 took effect on 8 October 2024. It doesn’t publish a cumulative impact area, and says any assessment would sit outside the policy document. Each application is judged on its own merits.

Where does Lincoln go out?

Visit Lincoln points to the Cornhill Quarter, Brayford Waterfront and the Cathedral Quarter, with venues along the High Street and the Strait. The licensing policy draws a line between the quieter Cathedral and Castle Quarter uphill and the city centre’s night-time economy.

Who is in town?

A lot of students. The University of Lincoln and Lincoln Bishop University, which was Bishop Grosseteste University until September 2025, are both in the city. The council’s policy says 29.3% of residents are aged 15 to 29, mostly because of the students, and that Lincoln gets about 4 million visitors a year.

So freshers’ week, the end of exams and graduation can be worth planning for. The Engine Shed, the University of Lincoln’s live music venue, adds gig nights on top.

Which dates need planning?

  • Lincoln City home games at Sincil Bank, renamed the ProAmpac Stadium under a 10-year deal announced in July 2026.
  • Weekend at the Asylum, the steampunk festival in the historic quarter each August bank holiday. The 2026 one ran from 28 to 31 August.
  • Christmas. After 2022 the council replaced its Christmas Market with a wider Christmas in Lincoln programme, which in 2025 included the Lincoln Illuminations.

What safety schemes run in the city centre?

Lincoln BIG, the city’s business improvement district, supports Lincoln Pubwatch and links members by radio to the Street Pastors and Evening Safety Wardens. The licensing policy encourages venues to join Pubwatch and to use Ask for Angela and Licensing SAVI.

There’s also a city centre Public Spaces Protection Order, in place since 15 January 2025 for three years. It bans using intoxicating substances, including alcohol, in the zone, and anyone who breaks it must hand them over when asked.

The City of Lincoln Council's 2024 to 2029 licensing policy doesn't publish one. It says any assessment would sit outside the policy document, so check with the council when you apply.

What safety schemes can my venue join?

Lincoln Pubwatch, which Lincoln BIG supports, plus Ask for Angela and Licensing SAVI. Lincoln BIG members can link by radio to the Street Pastors and Evening Safety Wardens.
