Door staff in Grimsby and Cleethorpes

We can arrange SIA-licensed door staff for venues in Grimsby and Cleethorpes at £18 an hour plus VAT, with a 6-hour minimum. Who licenses venues in Grimsby and Cleethorpes?

North East Lincolnshire Council, for both towns. Its licensing team handles premises licences, personal licences and temporary event notices.

The policy on the council’s website is still the interim Statement of Licensing Policy from October 2022. A review was consulted on between November 2025 and January 2026. A committee report in March 2026 proposed keeping the two Grimsby zones and extending the Cleethorpes one to Alexandra Road, St Peters Avenue and Sea View Street, with Full Council to decide later in the year. Check the council’s site for the version in force before you apply.

Where are the cumulative impact zones?

The 2022 policy has three. In each, there’s a presumption against new or varied licences for alcohol, entertainment and late-night refreshment:

  • Grimsby town centre: including Victoria Street, Old Market Place, Bethlehem Street, Osborne Street, Riverhead, George Street, Town Hall Square and Freshney Place.
  • Freeman Street and East Marsh: including Freeman Street, Albion Street and parts of Cleethorpe Road and Pasture Street.
  • Cleethorpes town centre: including the Central Promenade from Sea Road to Pier Gardens, the pier and beach area, North Promenade, High Street, Market Street, Sea Road, part of Alexandra Road and Station Road.

The draft policy would narrow the zones to premises licences for alcohol. Until it’s adopted, the 2022 rules apply. If you’re in a zone and want to change your hours or capacity, talk to the council early.

Where do people go out?

The council’s own policy puts most licensed venues in Grimsby around Victoria Street and Old Market Place. In Cleethorpes they’re around the High Street, Market Place and North Promenade. The 2026 review also found more licensed premises around Sea View Street.

Cleethorpes is a resort. The council’s policy says its population increases significantly in the summer months, with numerous entertainment events. Plan your door cover for the season, not just the weekend.

When do venues here need extra door staff?

  • Summer weekends on the seafront, and big events such as the Armed Forces Day weekend, which in 2026 ran from 26 to 28 June on Cleethorpes seafront.
  • Grimsby Town home games at Blundell Park, which is in Cleethorpes, not Grimsby.

The council’s draft policy says door supervisors may be required for town centre or coastal resort venues, so check your licence conditions first.

What local rules affect your door team?

Both town centres have Public Space Protection Orders with alcohol conditions, from July 2025 to July 2028. In Cleethorpes the order runs from Wonderland to the Leisure Centre. In Grimsby town centre it’s an offence to keep drinking in public after being asked to stop, or to refuse to hand over alcohol. Licensed premises are exempt.

The council’s draft policy also recommends joining North East Lincolnshire Pubwatch, which the police and council attend, and schemes such as Ask for Angela.

How does this compare with other areas we cover?

The rules differ by council. Here’s what door staff cost in general, and how it works in Hull and Lincoln. Read why we started LP Optimisation in Cleethorpes.

What else do people ask?

How much are door staff in Grimsby and Cleethorpes?

£18 an hour plus VAT per door supervisor, with a 6-hour minimum per booking. One supervisor for a minimum shift is £108 plus VAT.

Is my venue in a cumulative impact zone?

If it's on or near Victoria Street, Old Market Place, Freeman Street, Cleethorpes High Street, Sea Road or the Central Promenade, it may be. The zone maps are in North East Lincolnshire Council's Statement of Licensing Policy. New or bigger licences in a zone face a presumption against them, and a draft new policy would change the Cleethorpes zone.

Can you cover a one-off event?

Yes, with the same 6-hour minimum. If the event needs a temporary event notice, you give it to North East Lincolnshire Council.

Do you cover the rest of the area?

Door staff is currently available in Lincolnshire, Humber, Hull and South Yorkshire.
